  1. My topic was Renewable Energy, Obama would like to make a market based cap on pollution and if companies do not comply with pollution standards, they would have to pay a fine. Obama's plans to completely revolutionize this country with renewable energy that does not pollute the atmosphere.i believe that Obama can restore this nation and make it more powerful than ever before. Renewable energy is within out grasp, is just takes a brilliant mind, with a leader willing to perform an experiment that may solve all of our problems.

Federal help was sent and now tha town is back to normal but even better looking and a better environment according to tha citizens of Greensburg. Tha residents have created jobs, business, and most of all success in a place where rubble layed everywhere. People thought it was hopeless but obviously anything is possible. Andrew J aka Big Red

Obama wants to protect Afghanistan and Pakistan from the terrorist. He wants to send more troops to Afghanistan. He wants to send about 17,000 troops to Afghanistan. He also honors the troops who were there at the speech. He also wants to raise their pay and increase their benefits. He also mentions that United States of America does not torture, he meant Guantanamo Bay.

  7. My topic was Accounting on Spending. I think that President Obama made the right choice on withdrawing the troops form Iraq and Afghanistan. He said that their is no hiding on the truth of how much we are spending on the war. Upon withdrawal we will save a considerable amount of money, and we are one step closer to solving this economic crisis.

  8. Well, what Mr Obama was saying was that we need to be more responsible that we're spending too much money on things that we know we cannot hold, his example was on houses that are being foreclosed. He also states that we need to pull ourselves together for the future. Obama said that we keep on creating debts rather then paying it off and we keep getting into economic crisis. When we should be more careful that we keep spending more then we need to pay back. I agree with him when he says that, "Our children will be competing for jobs..." because in our economic crisis we might as well be, knowing even most of the adults will be getting laid off. In conclusion more Americans should be more responsible with their jobs and we should try to pay off all debts before getting into more crisis such as energy renewal and many other things that may cost more.

  9. Reassuring American Manufacturers

I think that the loss of money and jobs in heavy polluting companies and manufacturers is inevitable, if he continues with his plan. But the funding for alternative fuel sources will also creates hundreds of jobs. I think that it was important to say that the jobs will be there. But the prospect of losing any job at all at right now is distressing to lots of Americans. I don't really agree that the jobs have to be lost, but the plan will also create lots of jobs as well. So even though it sucks, it'll get better eventually and for a long time as well.

  10. The topic I was given today was Helping Detroit. Although the home of the world's first, along with America's first car, is requesting $17 billion along with $21 billion, its crucial to support our auto industry. It has been cloudy on how the Obama party is going to react to the request but things are looking high for GM & Chrysler.

  11. "I'm here on TV saying that i've messed up" obama said, "and that's part of the era of responsibility."

That is a direct quote from President Barack Obama, and it truly shows his responsibility of his own actions. Earlier in his election, Tom Daschle was accused of not paying his taxes correctly. Mr. Obama was backing Tom. Alas, Barack finally chose (along with legsilation) to kick Mr. Daschle out. He has now taken full responsibility for his actions, and admits that he shouldn't have backed Tom Daschle while he wasn't paying his taxes. During all this mess, President Obama was telling US citizens to be responsible, while Tom wasn't.

  12. Justifying the Bank Bailout

I agree with the plans that Obama is making to help the banks help us. In his speech he mentioned how the banks are afraid to lend out any more money because of all the bad loans that are already out there, but that with the stimulus money they can help the banks create new lending funds so people can start buying cars, paying for college, and paying for houses again. I also agree that we need to really clean up the credit crisis like he said because it also contributes to the lack of money going around. I'm hoping that this time around the banks will act more responsibly and help the people rather than have luxurious parties and give out bonuses.

I'm glad Obama is taking action about foreclosures. My family is in the process of buying a house that has been foreclosed and it's ridiculous the amount of houses we were able to choose from. Even our next door neighbors had their house foreclosed and nobody saw it coming. If the plan works it could help about 9 million Americans, which is a great amount. I also like how he mentions that the plan won't help the irresponsible homeowners who bought their houses knowing they couldn't afford it. The only problem is that it's hard to tell who knew they bought a house out of their budget. Overall I like the idea of the plan and hope it works.

What i am wondering is if the Recovery act helped any other states besides Minneapolis. It seems like that state is the only one who benefited.

    "3.5 Million Jobs"

In Mr. Obama's speech he mentioned that he was going to supply the U.S. with many important aspects that have brought us to this crisis today. Many people have lost jobs, mainly the middle class citizens. now president Obama is promising to create jobs and go from 800,000 to 2.5 millions jobs on the last quarter of 2009 and create jobs from 1.2 million jobs to 3.5 million jobs in the last quarter of 2010

Seems to me he's invested the right amount of time into this as to try and reverse, or at least HALT the destroying of what the world is going through. Obama has also tied it into the economical depression. I believe a little bit of higher taxes to the upper-class, will pay off for everyone.

Within this speech, the president Barack Obama has promised to put more people back to work. His reasoning for the things that hes doing is that if he does not take action, nothing will happen. When nothing happens, we get into a bigger rut, a bigger hole, a bigger mess, with more and more jobs lost. The recovery and reinvestment act is now in process. This speech is very convincing to me, i'm not sure if its just because hes a great public speaker, but he gives me much confidence in him. My head is making me think that the economy is going toward a better place.

We shouldn't protect them from their poor choices but we are committed to the goal of a brand new auto industry that will improve and succeed, because millions of jobs depend on it, and communities depend on it. President Obama's plan to help our 'inherited' deficit seems very well thought out, mainly because he is being practical in what he wants to do. Using the resources he will get available to the government, he will try to help key components of the $1.2 trillion deficit that will bring back more money to further bring the deficit down. As he put it, he will not be able to help all, but he can do what he can to help what can be used to further help. I feel good about this idea because, unlike what a large number of the population might think, he will not be able to help everyone and everything right away. It's going to take several years and concentration on individual areas before anyone can really be affected in a positive way.

  41. President Obama briefly spoke to the nation about modernization. Making government buildings and low-income homes more energy efficient would create thousands of new jobs and contribute to the nation's energy conservation efforts. Investing in updating power/electrical grids and building infrastructure is a wise investment. He said that too many bad loans have messed up credit and now the banks are in debt and are scared to lend out money and that's why credit has rised. One thing he wants to do is create a new lending fund to help provide loans for small businesses, colleges, and auto places. I think Obama's plan will work and the banks and companies will get the money they need.

The second topic was on Iraq Withdrawl. Obama wants to responsibly end the war and leave Iraq to it's people. Obama said he wants to get our troops out of Iraq in the next 16 months. He wants to forge a new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan to get rid of the terrorists that are threatening the United States of america. The stimulus package contains some $11 billion to modernize the nation's electrical grid, including the construction of roughly 2,000 miles of new transmission lines. But it takes years to get approvals for power lines, so "soon" is a relative term here. The package also includes nearly $10 billion to make low-income homes and government buildings more efficient so that should create thousands of jobs.
So basically Obama wants to modernize things to save money and maybe he'll change the way energy is used...solar energy....??? WIND POWER????? Whatever he's going to do he better do them right! In this portion of his speech, he talks about how he is going to help as many as 9 million people living in America avoid foreclosure. He makes sure we are aware that he is not going to help those who have been irresponsible and gotten themselves into bad situations. I feel this could be a very good thing, because it won't let the actions of all the irresponsible Americans put every American who HAS been responsible in a hole. It will help the people who have been effected by other people's actions.

The second topic I was given was Afghanistan and Pakistan. In this portion of his speech he states that his budget will enable him to send 17,000 troops to Afghanistan to fight against the efforts of the Al Qaeda in making their attacks on the United States. He doesn't want terrorists to have 'safe havens' to plot against us. I feel his intentions are good, but I really don't see the point in trying to bring the troops home from Iraq and then sending 17,000 of them out again. I believe having the troops home for a extended period of time would provide relief to Americans. There are other ways to prevents terrorist attacks aside from sending more Americans away from their families when they have already been away for so long, thanks to Bush.

If American manufacturers were to make renewable energy parts as Obama plans, we could spend less money on making electric or hybrid cars because we would not have to import the parts. While these companies will be charged more because of greenhouse emissions, they will be able to spend less on production. I agree that this is a good plan not only for the companies, but for the country in general. We will be able to spend less money on hybrid and electric cars because they will cost less to make, and if more people are able to buy these cars, driving will not harm the environment as much and America can become cleaner. Furthermore, if all or at least most of the parts from these cars are American-made, more of the money will stay in the United States instead of to other countries.

  70. i think obama is very serious about getting our troops from iraq. he said all of our troops will be home within 16 months. i think that will help us lot, because all of the money we are spending in iraq will help us in our bad time that we have right now.

  73. My topic is Helping Detroit. I agree with Obama because they already gave Chrysler and General Motors 17 billion dollars. Chrysler and General Motors should figure out another strategy and not get another 21 billion dollars. The 21 billion dollars should go to another fund.

  74. The topic I was given is funding ingenuity. I think he wants to strenghthen three important issues we have. He wants to fund energy, education, and make health care if not free, then very affordable. He wants to strenghthen education because he is looking ahead to the future, and funding education couls stimulate the future's economy. He wants to also carry out a plan that can help the future by funding for a "green" enviornment.

  75. The Kennedy-Hatch Bill was among the many topics discused in Obama's Tuesday night speech. In this bill, otherwise known as the "Serve America Bill", any american who volunteers in the service will qualify for minimal living expences as well as education stipends. With a goal to raise the national percentage of Americans appling to college yearly. Obama's goal is to make education available to every American. Not only would it benefit the service volunteers it would also offer tac incentitives to companies that provide paid volunteer leave as well as include a broad recruitment fund to companies which take advantage of the program. It is estimated that this bill will nearly double the amount of volunteers in the United States. I feel that this bill will serve it's purpose if passed and will be a further stepping stone to reestablishing the economy in this country.
