  1. Obama plans to bolster our forces in Afghanistan and attempt to root out al Qaeda there. Personally, i think this is a bad idea because we have been in there for over 7 years, and we should be out by now. However, if al Qaeda is indeed planning attacks on the U.S., they cannot be ignored. Instead we should just use all of our force to root them out as fast as possible, go in fast, and leave just as fast to make sure the elast amount of damage is caused.

The President is sending lots of more troops to the Middle East. This obviously contradicts what he said in a previous speech, when he said he had a plan to withdraw all American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not sure that this is any better then what Bush was doing. At least we don't have to hear "war on terror" anymore.
I think that training troops to take over the positions that the troops are in right now is a good idea. Whereas if Bush got out he would leave them without experience. Also, the budget to build their infrastructure will also help stabilize their society. I think that this approach is better then before and will help lead us into getting the troops home

I believe that Obama's plan to give Pakistan 1.5 billion a year for the next five years is horrible. How can the American people afford to pay for the damages done to Pakistan by another country? its absurd to me to even think that is and option. Obama said that he was going to try and get all the troops out of the war by 2010. With his plan of sending about 20,000 more troops into Afghanistan to help fight off the Al Qaeda and Taliban? This is not America's problem to deal with and we need to get out of our recession and plan to spend our money wisely instead of planning to give it to another country.

  4. I'm not sure what to think about Obama's plan. I think that if al Qaeda poses a threat and we are really at risk of being in danger, then we should focus on destroying whatever chance of attacks on us. But I don't think that we should be spending so much money doing this while we continue to suffer economically over here. We need to just get al Qaeda and get out of there as fast as we can before we make any more problems. Then maybe when we are financially stable we can go back over there and help out.

  5. Although I believe that President Obama is making a wise decision to send the troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan, he is contradicting himself as well. In Obama's campaigning for president he stated that one of his priorities was to send the troops home from Iraq and end the war. However, the troops return to home will be short lived as they are once again deployed into Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is also no way of predicting of what al Qauda is planning, or if they are willing to allow the United States to enter their country peaceful or without conflict sometime along the course.

  6. Obama is planning to send more troops to Afghanistan and more aid to Pakistan. Because both the countries are being targeted by terrorist. I think that if al Qaeda poses a threat and we are really at risk of being in danger, then we should focus on destroying whatever chance of attacks on us. Obama said that he was going to try and get all the troops out of the war by 2010. With his plan of sending about 20,000 more troops into Afghanistan to help fight off the Al Qaeda and Taliban.

I think that whatever Obama plans to to is the right choice. He wants to defeat the Taliban and it is true that they are planning attacks on the U.S soil. I think that there shouldn't be no war no more, because it has gone on long enough. And if it took all these years, and we got no where, what will more war do.

  8. i think that adding more troops to afghan is a bad idea. we shoulda alredy been out of there. befpre OBAMA earlier said he wanted to have the troops out by next year. and haveing more people there is not doing what he said he was goin to do. we have been there for a while now and we shoulda been gone by then.

Obama's new plan to try to regulate Afghanistan and fight the local gangs seems like a waste of time. The money we're spending is not a lot but is significant over the next five years. The 1.5 billion dollars and the 21,000 troops are false hope for obama and the natives in Afghanistan because there is no way to regulate gangs. We already have that problem here in America. Right now America has their own problems. We need to focus on us and deal with others later.

  10. In my opinion, Obama should not send any more troops. He said previously that he was taking our troops out and sending them back home within the next year. Why should we even send more troops there, i think we fought enough already. I also don't think that we should give Pakistan $1.5 billion because we are already in an economic crisis. How are we going to get $1.5 billion?

  11. If the Afghans and Pakistani want troops in their countries, then we should. If they want help, I agree. If not, however, we should leave well enough alone and not stick our nose where it doesn't belong. It all depends on their opinion. By this, I mean the opinion of the people, not the government.

  12. I'm glad that Obama is focusing on Afghanistan when we're used to just hearing about Iraq. However, I think his plan is a bad idea. We shouldn't be sending out more troops or spending more money. His plan is too risky and he needs to keep his promise to not "blindly stay the course" if it fails. I think it's great to improve the conditions in Pakistan but they don't need $1.5 billion a year. It's great that he's taking action though, especially if al Quaeda is really planning attacks.

  13. Obama is going to send many more troops into Afghanistan. I am not sure if I agree with this or not, I really don't want to send more troops into war. I don't want to send more troops into war like anyone else, at first Obama wanted to get our troops out now he wants to send more in. I have not made a final conclusion about this plan of Obama has come up with.

  15. Obama is planning to send more troops to Afghanistan and give more money to rebuild Pakistan, because these two countries are under the target of terrorist. And Obama is also planning to pull out all the troops from Iraq and get out of the war by 2010. In my opinion, I do not agree with his plan, because I don't really think that we have to spend more of our money into those countries which they are not even in America and make us more problems.

I think in imposing conditions on the Afghans and Pakistanis, Mr. Obama is replicating an approach used in Iraq 2 years ago both to justify a deeper American commitment. He is sending more troops to Afganistan. He wants to defeat the Taliban and i think we are really at risk.By giving $1.5 billion in aid to Pakistan every year over the next five years i dont think we should because we already in an economic crisis. Rite now we already have alot of problem here in America.President Obama should deal ours first and think about others later.

  17. In my opinion, I think that the first article is a bad idea becuase what's the purpose of shutting the rank. If something happens, they can't help it. They never know of what will happen next. Also, I think that it's useless. It probably won't work that well. That's my opinion about first article.
In my opinion for the second article, I think that it's definetly a bad idea because it's about bombing and war. I mean what's the point of bombing to gain territory? The thing about bombing is that it kills people and cause side- effect around other country. Also, it may cause a long term effect of the counrty. That's why i think this is definetly a bad idea.

  18. I think its completely stupid to send more troops over to Afghanistan and to aid them in their crisis within their own country. Why are we going to give Pakistan $1.5 billion when the U.S. itself is in a economic crisis as we speak??? Pakistan hasnt done ANYTHING for us so why should we give them something in return?? Its time to start looking out for our own country and stop worrying about all the others, cuz they arent going to get us anywhere

I believe Obama is stressing these money issues then setting out and spending more govt. money especially now that it is brought up on a foreign level why would we aid others in a time where we need aid from the economic recession. Pakistan would sooner get corrupt again and lash out with Taliban then aid us in our economic problem. Besides other then good will the only thing of value is oil and soon that will be a dead source of energy anyways. Obama should just get our economy back on all fours and led us out of this slope.
