Choose from one of the following sites to find legislation:

Look for current legislation, pick one bill, explain what it is and where it is in the legislative process. Make your explanation clear and concise and in one paragraph and post as a comment before the class period is over.

If you finish early, either make up past work for the virtual stock exchange or go to the virtual stock exchange to check how your stocks are doing.

  4. THE DTV act

the dtv act was signed by Obama on Feb 6. The bill is about letting everybody have more time to transition over to digital cable because not everyone has them yet. The government is giving away coupons to purchase the digital box so people wouldn't need to fork out hundreds to buy a digital television. The switch to digital tv is now postponed to June 12, original date was Feb 17.

  11. On January 29, 2009 President Obama signed the first piece of legislation by signing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which will make it less difficult for employees & workers to get their rightful pay easier. Sometimes this wasnt happening because of peoples races, genders, or their age. Barack signed the bill next to Lilly Ledbetter and it was a big stand for the fight against discrimination. Women have had a lot of problems with their pay over the years but hopefully now that will not be a problem

  26. I read on the DTV (Digital Television) Delay act in the White House section. Seems as if all the dates have been pushed back from mid February to mid June. Sen Rockefeller seems to be the main sponsor of this act and it was introduced on the 1st of January. This act pushes back the transition of all cable TVs to digital TVs across the U.S.

  28. The website that I chose was the senate one. When I look for current legislation, I picked one of the active legislation , the Bonus tax bill, imposed 90% tax on TARP bonuses. This lesgislation is one of the important one cause it talk about taxes, which relates to economic. This legislation is an law of TARP which is also widely known as Troubled Assets Relief Program, and this legislation often occur in the USA. That's what this legislation basically about.

  29. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009

The perpose of this perticular piece of legislation is to ensure that there is a fight against salary dicrimination among all Americans, as well as to ensure fundamental fairness to all workers. The act's name was taken from Lilly Ledbetter, who was there to witness President Obama's signing of the legislation on January 29, 2009. The act emphasizes previous legislation passed in the United States, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. Overall, this piece of legislation ensures that Americans will have the fair work opportunities to which they are entitled to.
